This is the Part 6 of Azure Cloud Services series. In this session I go over how to host multiple websites on the Webrole of a Cloud Service. Further discussions and demos are provided on how to run a script before an Azure Role is started. The session ends of with how to enable a security feature in IIS to only allow an IP address or a range of IP address to access the website on the Webrole.

Microsoft Azure Training 36 – Azure Cloud Services – Part 5 – Cloud Services Caching (Exam 70-533)

This is the Part 5 of Azure Cloud Services series. In this session I discuss about Cloud Service’s caching feature called In-Role cache; a caching mechanism specific to Azure Cloud Services. I go in details about what In-Role caching is and the 3 key concepts of it; Cache Cluster, Named Cache and Cache Client. I further divulge into providing information on the 2 deployment topologies of In-Role cache, the Co-located Role and Dedicated Role. A demonstration is provided at the end to show how the In-Role caching is enabled and configured from Visual Studio.

Microsoft Azure Training 34 – Azure Cloud Services – Part 3 – Cloud Services Configuration (Exam 70-533)

This is the Part 3 of Azure Cloud Services series. In this session I deep dive into the cloud service role configurations such as the role instances, role sizes, and the role operating systems. I also discuss how to check the limitations of the subscription to architect the cloud service within limits. Further discussion is also done in having the right number of instances to ensure that Azure SLA is maintained by obseving the update and the fault domains of the VMs of the roles.

Microsoft Azure Training -33- Azure Cloud Services – Part 2 – Deploying Cloud Services (Exam 70-533)

This is the Part 2 of Azure Cloud Services series. In this session I describe in details how a cloud service is packaged and deployed in Azure. I explain what files are uploaded to Azure and how the package is created with the service configuration file. I further go over Cloud Service deployment slots; production and staging. The session concludes with deploying a cloud service to a pre-created VNET and I explain the benefits of deploying a cloud service to a VNET.

Microsoft Azure Training 32 – Azure Cloud Services – Part 1 – The Basics (Exam 70-533

This is the Part 1 of several sessions that goes over Azure Cloud Service. In this session I provide an introduction of what Azure Cloud Service is and a general way to think of the 2 paradigms of Cloud Services. I clarify the easiest way to think about the 2 Roles that make the Cloud Service and how they are important for multi-tiered web applications. Further a demo is provided on hoe to deploy a cloud service and it’s roles from Visual Studio 2013 to create and host a simple web page. Given that web applications can be deployed through Azure Websites, Azure VMs and Azure Cloud Services, I conclude this session with a general discussion on when to use what while thinking of deploying web applications.

Microsoft Azure Training 31 – Azure Websites – Part 8 – Azure Websites diagnostics and monitoring (Exam 70-533)

This is the Part 8 and the last part of the Azure Websites/Azure Web Apps sessions. In this session I discuss what are the various diagnostics logs in Azure websites and how they are enabled and where the are stored. Further in the session I demonstrate on how to retrieve the log files. In this session I also go over Azure websites monitoring and what metrics that can be monitored from Azure Preview Portal. I also demonstrate on how to enable the endpoint monitoring of Azure Websites from the Management Portal.

This is the Part 7 of the Azure Websites-Azure Web Apps sessions. In this session I discuss about an exciting service in Azure called Azure Traffic Manager. I provide a full description of what Azure Traffic Manager is and the easy 3 ways to have it configured. As usual, all concepts are fully demonstrated in this session for an easy understanding and also to show that Azure Traffic Manager is just not another load balancer. Plenty of -gotchas- are also explained and demonstrated with respect to configuring the Azure Traffic Manager.

Further I discuss about how Azure Websites scaling works and the various configurations that determine how Azure Websites is scaled; scheduled scaling or performance based scaling. Along with a demo that highlights all the concepts learned, I also discuss the best practices and considerations that must be taken while deicing how the Websites should be scaled.

Microsoft Azure Training 28 – Azure Websites – Part 5 – Azure Websites Custom Domains and SSL (Exam 70-533)

This is the Part 5 of Azure Websites/Azure Web Apps session. In this session I demonstrate how to map a custom domain to a newly created Website and what DNS configuration is required to make this happen. The session further divulges into uploading and binding SSL certificate to an Azure Website with a custom domain. As a bonus a demonstration is provided on how to force HTTP traffic to secure HTTPS in Azure Websites.
